East Antrim Harriers AC

Yesterday 4 Harriers along with a very special guest took on the traditional Castlewellan Christmas Cracker - a pairs race over approximately 9 miles of mixed terrain including fields, trails, hills, mud & road. First club members home were Chris Collins & Rick Hill who ran strongly to finish in 27th place in 1.06.12. Next club member home was Billy Reed who was partnered by ultra-running legend Nicky Spinks. They finished in 81st place & 2nd in their category in 1.12.54, closely followed by Larry McAteer & his partner in 86th place in 1.13.54. Thanks to Newcastle AC for a well organised race & a great day out.

Well done to everyone who turned out for Saturdays EAH XC Handicap, The McCalmont Cup. The clubs 1st in a series of Cross Country races consisted of 4, 1 mile laps of Six Mile Water. The trophy was won by Michael Allen who was followed by tied 2 place John Neill and Ross Mercer. Thanks as always to time keepers Jeanette, Vivienne and Nicole. On behalf of the officers and members of the club we would like to wish everyone a Merry Xmas.

Congratulations to Chris Collins who made the trip to sunny Spain to run in the Valencia Marathon this weekend. Chris has been more accustomed to running Ultras this year but stepped down the distances well to run 3.05 and post a new marathon PB. Well done Chris!
